The agreement form explains the possible complications, which include period-like pains, low risk of infection and light bleeding.

The test is useful for confirming or negating defects, growths, blockages or adhesion in these organs. The test is generally performed as a fertility test for women, when there is a need to clarify unusual symptoms in the uterus such as polyps, abnormal bleeding, repeated lost pregnancies, or in preparation for IVF treatment. The test is performed in conjunction with the Obstetrics and Gynecology Ultrasound Unit. In this test, unlike an x-ray, there is no exposure to iodine or to radiation. The test also includes a 3-D uterine ultrasound, which provides an excellent image of uterine structure, largely thanks to the injection of the liquid enabling evaluation of the inner areas.

To receive pictures of the inner parts of the scanned organs, a sterile physiological liquid (normal saline) is dripped through the vagina into the uterus and tubes.
SALINE SONOGRAM BEFORE IVF SERIES
It is a series of pelvic ultrasound scans to check whether the uterine cavity and the fallopian tubes are in order. (other names for the test: Sonohysterography, 3D Sono-HSG, SIS)
